🙏 Praying for Evyatar David – An Israeli Hostage in Gaza

Evyatar David, born on December 24, 2000, is a young man from Kfar Saba, Israel. He was kidnapped during the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack while attending the Nova music festival, alongside his childhood friend Guy Gilboa-Dalal.

Now, at just 24 years old, Evyatar’s life hangs in the balance. On August 1, 2025, Hamas released a heartbreaking video showing him emaciated, starved, and sitting in a dark tunnel with only a sparse food chart beside him. Another video shows him digging with a shovel, believing he may be preparing his own grave. His suffering has been condemned worldwide as a violation of basic human dignity.

His image has appeared on billboards in Times Square, newspapers, and international campaigns calling for his release. Yet, as of today, he remains in captivity — weak, starving, and separated from his loved ones. This is a call for us not only to be aware, but to intercede in prayer.

Why We Should Pray for Evyatar

  • For his safety and release: That God would make a way for him to be freed swiftly and safely.
  • For strength and provision: That he would be given food, water, and humane treatment in captivity.
  • For courage and hope: That his spirit will not be broken, and he may feel God’s nearness.
  • For his family: That they receive divine comfort and hope as they endure this pain.
  • For global action: That the international community will not stay silent until Evyatar David is freed.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, we lift up before You today Evyatar David, who is suffering in captivity of human being. Lord, You see his pain, his hunger, and his fear. Stretch forth Your mighty hand and deliver him. Protect his life, strengthen his body, and give peace to his soul. Surround him with Your presence even in the darkness of the tunnel. Bring comfort to his family who wait in anguish, and stir the nations to act with courage and compassion. Above all, may Evyatar come to know the eternal hope and salvation that is found in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
