The Seal of God
What is the difference between seal of God and mark of the beast?
Lesson 20 of 28 • Print / save PDFThe book of Revelation contains references to both the Mark of the Beast and the Seal of God. These depictions are a part of the apocalyptic imagery that is frequently connected to the end times and is used to depict the ultimate struggle between good and evil. An angel bearing the seal of the living God is seen ascending from the east in Revelation 7:2-3. Until the servants of God are sealed on their foreheads, other angels are instructed by this angel not to harm the human race.

The Seal of God is a representation of spiritual connection with God, divine ownership, and protection. The mark that those who follow the "beast" acquire is known as the Mark of the Beast, and it is linked to economic and social exclusion for those who reject it (Revelation 13:16-18).

D., p. 58But you may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify." -James Cardinal Gibbons, The Faith of Our Fathers (1917 ed.), pp. 72, 73
A quote from the Catholic Press newspaper in Sidney, Australia. “Sunday is a Catholic institution and its claims to observance can be defended only on Catholic principles. From the beginning to end of Scripture there is not a single passage that warrants the transfer of weekly public worship from the last day of the week to the first.”
In the Augsburg Confession, They [the Catholics] allege the Sabbath changed into Sunday, the Lord's day, contrary to the decalogue, as it appears; neither is there any example more boasted of than the changing of the Sabbath day. Great, they say, is the power and authority of the church, since it dispensed with one of the ten commandments. - Art. 28.
