Why We Must Pray

As Christians, we are called to pray for those who are facing health challenges. In James 5:13–16, we are reminded of the power of prayer and the importance of praying for one another. This scripture encourages us to confess our sins to each other and to pray for each other so that we may be healed. The experience of Katie Couric serves as a reminder of our mortality and the need to pray not only for physical healing but also for spiritual guidance and comfort.

Prayer Points

• For Katie Couric and her family as they navigate this health challenge.
• For wisdom and compassion for all healthcare professionals involved in her care.
• For comfort and peace that surpasses understanding, as promised in Philippians 4:7.

Scripture Reflection

In times of uncertainty and fear, we are reminded of God’s promise to be our rock and our shelter. Psalms 46:1–3 says, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea." This passage encourages us to trust in God’s sovereignty and goodness, even when we do not understand the circumstances surrounding us.
