Former West Virginia Youth Pastor John W. Radcliff II & Kathy Radcliff — Pray for Justice, Healing, and Salvation
A comprehensive overview, timeline, background, and prayer guide rooted in Scripture — for victims, families, communities, investigators, and the accused.
Summary — What’s Happening Now
Former youth pastor John W. Radcliff II and his wife Kathy (Jean) Radcliff have been the subject of a multi-county investigation and criminal indictments alleging decades-long sexual abuse of children and related crimes. Recent court actions have included new indictments, continuances, and procedural updates. The alleged offenses span many years and involve multiple counties in West Virginia; state police and prosecutors continue to pursue charges as additional evidence and interviews have been reviewed.
Highlighted Reason to Pray
Primary reason to pray: for the survivors who carry deep, lifelong wounds — for their healing, justice, and the Lord’s comfort; and for true repentance and salvation for every person implicated, including the accused, so that redemption and restorative truth may be revealed through Christ.
Background — Who Are the Key People?
John W. Radcliff II — profile
John W. Radcliff II served for many years in youth ministry roles at local churches in West Virginia. He was known in his communities as a preacher and youth minister, a position that afforded him trust and access to young people and families. According to recent reporting, allegations against him date back to the 1980s and 1990s and involve numerous counts across multiple counties. The charges allege sexual assault, sexual abuse of minors, incest in certain counts, and related offenses that investigators say span decades.
Kathy (Jean) Radcliff — profile
Kathy Radcliff, the wife of John Radcliff, has been accused in connection with the case as an accessory or for alleged knowledge of abuse in some county filings. Charges and counts involving Kathy have changed as the investigation and prosecutions have evolved (some charges against her have been modified or dismissed in certain counties). Her role in the public reporting has been described as “charged with related crimes” or “accessory” in various local filings and press releases.
Most Recent Developments (What’s New)
- Ongoing court continuances were reported — both John and Kathy have had court dates continued into 2026 as new evidence and procedural matters are addressed.
- Investigators continue to review recorded interviews and evidence from earlier inquiries; prosecutors have secured grand jury indictments in one or more counties related to abuse alleged to have occurred decades ago.
- The investigation is multi-jurisdictional, covering several West Virginia counties; additional victims and charges have been described by law enforcement as the probe continues.
Timeline — Key Dates & Events
- 1980s–1990s — Timeframe during which the alleged abuse is reported to have occurred in multiple accounts (allegations include incidents spanning these decades).
- 2004 — An earlier investigation was opened by state troopers; reports indicate the 2004 investigation did not result in charges at that time.
- October–November 2024 — Renewed investigation and arrests: John W. Radcliff II and Kathy Radcliff were arrested amid a large investigation; initial charges reported included scores of counts related to sexual abuse, assault, and incest across several counties.
- November 2024 to mid-2025 — Additional filings and legal actions: charges and indictments continued to accrue as prosecutors reviewed evidence and interviewed complainants and witnesses.
- September–October 2025 — New evidence and recorded interviews prompted continuances and additional indictments in some counties; court dates for John and Kathy were continued to future dates for continued proceedings.
- Ongoing — Investigation and legal proceedings continue; prosecutors and law enforcement indicate the possibility of additional victims and charges as the inquiry proceeds.
Legal Status & What To Know
The case involves criminal indictments and multi-county filings. Criminal cases can be fluid: indictments, charges, continuances, pleas, dismissals, and trials may all occur over time. Each county’s prosecutor and the state police are handling portions of the case. The accused are entitled to legal defense and to due process under the law; simultaneously, survivors seek justice, validation, and safety.
Why We Must Pray — Multiple Clear Reasons
1. For the Survivors: survivors of sexual abuse often carry lifelong trauma — pray for healing, courage to speak truth, protection, access to trauma-informed care, and the justice system to operate with compassion and fairness.
2. For Families and Communities: families fractured by these revelations need pastoral care, reconciliation where possible, and community healing. Pray for churches and leaders to respond with truth, transparency, and compassion.
3. For the Accused (Repentance & Salvation): prayer is requested that hearts would be softened, truth would come to light, and that those guilty of wrongdoing would experience genuine repentance and come to saving faith in Christ — that justice would be paired with the opportunity for redemption where true repentance is shown.
4. For Investigators, Prosecutors, and Courts: pray for wisdom, diligence, integrity, and protection for those handling evidence and testimonies; pray for victors of truth, fair processes, and safety for witnesses.
5. For the Church: pray for the Body of Christ to minister rightly — protecting children, supporting survivors, confronting sin faithfully, and modeling biblical justice and mercy.
6. For Restoration & Truth: pray that lies and cover-ups be exposed, that survivors find voice and healing, and that communities be protected from further harm.

Heavenly Father,
We come before You with heavy hearts for the victims of abuse and for their families. Lord, bring healing where wounds are deep, comfort where grief is overwhelming, and courage where silence has been kept. We pray that survivors would experience Your peace, find wise counselors and safe communities, and receive justice that is thorough and compassionate.
We also lift up those accused and their families. Lord, if there is guilt, bring conviction that leads to true repentance; if there is innocence, bring vindication and clarity. Let truth rise like light in every dark place. We pray that wherever sin has taken root, repentance and transformation would follow, and that Your mercy would not negate justice but bring renewal where possible.
For investigators, prosecutors, judges, and all who handle this case — grant wisdom, integrity, and protection. For the churches and leaders involved, give discernment to respond in ways that center victims, pursue truth, and honor You in justice and mercy.
Finally, Lord, we ask for the salvation of every soul involved — victims, families, community members, investigators, and the accused. May Your gospel bring repentance, restoration, and new life in Christ.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
